Kids Art Appreciation Classes

Classes are designed for children ages 4-7. Classes are currently hosted at Little Chicken in Atlantic Highlands, NJ. Each week, we learn about an interesting artist; their techniques and inspiration. Every class is formatted in the same way to ensure a sense of structure. Process is always encouraged over the final product. It is a joy to inspire creativity and watch young budding artists bloom!

1. Learn: We begin by sitting together and reading a story about the featured subject. Since we are learning about famous artists from all over the world, it is only natural to incorporate geography. The kids absolutely love searching for new places on the world map!

2. Demonstration: A sample of the product is provided with a brief explanation.

3. Express yourself! Each student is given the necessary tools and instruction to create their own masterpieces. We utilize various mediums to encourage exploration and curiosity (see photos below for reference).

4. Process: As a group, we take turns sharing our creations. Each student also shares a fun fact they gathered from the given topic. This allotted time gives the kids an opportunity to take pride in their work and receive compliments from their classmates.
